GFS's Children's Library is housed on-site and is the first library in the local community serving families with young children. With no public libraries within walking distance for families in the surrounding community, the Children's Library is designed to meet the need for a community resource to inspire children at the very beginning of their lives to develop a love of reading.

The Children's Library has a collection of 3000 books in Spanish and English geared toward children ages 0-9. Families can apply for a free library card to borrow books to take home and read to their children. For many of the families we serve, this is their first experience using a library.

The goal of the Children's Library is to increase families' access to books for their children in order to increase the amount of reading that parents and children are doing at home.

  >"I have recently gotten interested in reading books to my children, and this is the first time I have ever taken them to a library."
