Who I am... My name is Rocio, and I have a two year old girl and a four year old boy. A value that is important to me is to persevere when confronted with adversity.

My Hopes and Dreams are... My dream is to be fluent in English by the time my children are ready to go to school so that I can support them.

Why did I come to GFS? And what did I gain?... I came looking for services for my children. I have learned how to read with my children and most importantly how to talk to them and manage my time better so that I can spend more time with them.

ELIZABETH

Who I am... My name is Elizabeth. I have a two year old son. One of the values that helps me in my life is to have confidence in myself and to know that when I am determined about something I want, I make it happen.

My Hopes and Dreams are... My dream is to be fluent in English and to be a good mother for my son so that I can support him so that he can be a well educated citizen.

Why did I come to GFS? And what did I gain?... I was looking for some type of recreation activity for my son. I have learned how to communicate with him and how to help him develop a love for books. It has given my child an opportunity to socialize with other children and adults.

ANDREA

Who I am... My name is Andrea and I have two children, a four year old girl and a three year old boy. An important value in my life is my faith in God and in trying to always do things with lots of love.

My Hopes and Dreams are... My dream is to be fluent in English and to be a good mother for my children so that I can support them so that they can become well educated citizens.

Why did I come to GFS? And what did I gain?... I was walking down the street and seeing families come in and out of the center. I got curious and decided to find out what they were doing. Much to my surprise I discovered all these wonderful services offered by GFS. I have learned how to speak English, and I even had a personal tutor. While I was learning, they provided my children with child enrichment activities and so they also have learned a lot.

ROSA

Who I am... My name is Rosa and I have two children, a boy and a girl. A value that is very important to me is being close to my family. It is through their support that I have been able to overcome many challenges.

My Hopes and Dreams are... My dream is to be able to learn new things and to teach my children so that one day they can be educated people. And the hope is that they are also people that bring good to others.

Why did I come to GFS? What did I gain?... I came to the agency looking for a program that could help my children develop their literacy skills and then I realized that there was so much more to learn. We have made reading a regular part of our life. We read as a family, even my husband gets involved.

MARIA

Who I am... My name is Maria and I have a five year old, wonderful daugther, who suffers from Asperger's syndrome.

My Hopes and Dreams are... My dream is that my daughter can be independent and have access to all the resources possible that she might need, so that she can develop and learn everyday and become a productive member of society.

Why did I come to GFS? What did I gain?... I came to the agency looking for services for my daughter. We have gained so much more than I ever thought from all the services offered. My daughter did not have a chance to attend pre-school. Here she has had an opportunity to develop her social skills. Now she communicates more with others. I have been referred to so many other services and have gained information on how to better support her. The services have helped me and my young daughter tremendously.
